We are a Scouts Canada group in West Edmonton, part of Northern Lights Council. Geographically, we are centred just southeast of the west-side intersection of Whitemud Drive and Anthony Henday Drive.
We have been doing fun activities since 1987 and we're always happy to welcome new members!
Our program is youth-led, meaning the youth get to flex their leadership muscles and determine on the year's events and activities. The Scouters provide guidance to help them execute on their grand ideas (most of our youth aren't eligible for credit cards to making booking arrangements...) and ensure safety is addressed along the way.
This has resulted in all sorts of activities like:
Archery
Pelletry
Geocaching
Winter sledding
Weekend camping
Community service
Bike trips
Sledding
Tree planting
Wilderness hikes
Ice fishing
Oil Kings sleepover evening
Holiday themed events
Potluck dinners
Knot tying
Special trips ex. Jasper, Drumheller, etc.
And that's just the list that we can think of!
Following a Deming Cycle model, we guide the youth through the Plan-Do-Review approach to their activities so they can grow and use their experiences to help improve the program for future years.
Sound like fun? Come join us, either as a volunteer Scouter or a youth participant!
